Meet Ramsey
Ramsey Robinson is a dedicated mental health social worker, organizer, and revolutionary based in San Francisco, whose life’s work has been rooted in the fight for collective liberation. With a fierce commitment to justice, Ramsey has spent years organizing alongside oppressed communities to challenge systemic inequities—from poverty and racism to environmental destruction and state violence.
A graduate of California State University, Los Angeles, where he earned his Master of Social Work, Ramsey has consistently merged his academic expertise with grassroots activism. While at Cal State LA, he was an active member of the Social Justice Caucus, where he helped strategize campaigns to destigmatize mental health care and expand access to campus-based services. His early work also included collaborating with Glendale Unified School District Board Member Nayiri Nahabedian to implement Assembly Bill 15, a pioneering effort to expand children’s access to higher education through savings accounts.
Ramsey’s organizing spans multiple fronts. As a key member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) and the Peace and Freedom Party of California, he has been instrumental in campaigns demanding justice for victims of police brutality, including co-organizing the Sawandi Toussaint speak-out – a young Black man who was gunned down in the city of El Monte. He has also helped lead the National Shut ‘Em Down campaign, mobilizing 60 activists and community members to demand freedom for political prisoners, and is a key organizer in an annual Black August Education Series, honoring Black American political prisoners and their legacies of resistance.
In San Francisco’s Bayview/Hunters Point—a historically Black and working-class community disproportionately impacted by environmental racism—Ramsey has worked alongside Marie Harrison Foundation, Green Action, and other environmental justice organizers to fight for clean air, safe housing, and community self-determination.
As a social worker, Ramsey extends his revolutionary principles into education and mentorship. He founded and supports a Student Socialist Club at the high school where he works, empowering youth to organize Know Your Rights trainings for their community amidst the growing threat of ICE raids on undocumented communities. His commitment to uplifting marginalized youth is further reflected in his volunteer work as a Youth Mentor, guiding foster youth in their transition to independent living through education, financial literacy, and emotional support. He has also served at-risk youth on Skid Row with Central City Community Outreach, providing academic assistance, mentorship, and safe spaces for growth.
Ramsey Robinson’s life and work embody the belief that another world is possible—one where all people, free from oppression, can not only survive but thrive. Through organizing, education, and unwavering solidarity, he continues to fight for that future.
