The Peace and Freedom Party candidates for statewide office condemn Trump’s latest unprovoked, illegal and immoral act of war on Iran.  This is not about security.  It is a war crime, plain and simple, carried out by Trump and Netanyahu. We call on all people of conscience to take to the streets and stop this war before it spirals out of control. 

The majority of Americans do not want war with Iran.  Iran did not attack the United States and had no intentions of doing so.  Trump launched this war because he wants to dominate the entire Middle East, an ambition shared by every Democratic and Republican administration since World War II. 

Meanwhile, millions of working people struggle to pay rent and afford medicine, yet the US government pours well over $1 trillion – $1,000,000,000,000 –  into its war machine.  Every penny of that should be spent on healthcare, good jobs, and fully funded schools here at home.

While the US bombs in Iran, ICE executes protesters in broad daylight here at home.  When they bomb schools in Iran, they are choosing to close our schools in California.  When they fund endless war, they are choosing to defund our hospitals, our mental health services, and our communities. The fight for peace abroad and justice for working families here in the United States is one and the same. 

This truth is at the heart of our Party.  The Peace and Freedom Party was born out of the anti-Vietnam war and anti-racist struggles in the summer of 1967.  From our founding, we understood that you cannot separate the international from the domestic.  We continue to platform and give voice to the mass movement that connects working people's struggles here and abroad.  A movement to use California’s wealth for its working people and not for war and corporate greed.   

We are calling on working people across California to join us in the streets. Build protests wherever you are. Let us know you're taking action. Together, we can reignite the massive anti-war movement this country so desperately needs.
