Trump Threatens to Murder 90 Million People. This Is Our War to Stop.

Yesterday, Trump threatened to kill "a whole civilization." Iran has 90 million people — nurses, teachers, students, farmworkers — and Trump is threatening to destroy their power plants, bridges, and water supply unless they submit to U.S. domination. This is genocidal intent. It is a war crime under international law. And every working Californian is paying for it — in tax dollars, at the gas pump, and with our neighbors' lives. And the Democrats have done nothing to stop it. My campaign and the Peace and Freedom Party refuse to let him kill in our name.

$2 Billion a Day: Working People Foot the Bill for This War
Trump launched Operation Epic Fury on February 28, joining Israel in nearly 900 strikes that killed Iran's supreme leader, murdered over 160 people at a girls' school in Minab, and closed off the Strait of Hormuz. Now — unable to win — Trump is threatening to blow up every bridge and power plant in the country.
The first six days alone cost $11.3 billion. Nearly $2 billion a day. The White House is preparing to ask Congress for an additional $200 billion. Every dollar is stolen from working people. Meanwhile, California's 194 billionaires hoard $1.2 trillion while 7.3 million Californians can't meet basic needs. California drivers are already paying $6 a gallon in Los Angeles County — up from under $5 before the war. Gas stations are at near $9 in parts of LA.
The children of Lockheed Martin's executives and the senators who vote for this war aren't fighting it. Working-class young people are. Thirteen U.S. service members have already died, and hundreds are wounded. The war machine extracts from all of us — here and in Tehran.
Trump is Escalating Because He is Failing
Trump didn't threaten to destroy "a whole civilization" from a position of strength. He did it because his strategy is failing. He entered this war expecting decapitation strikes to topple the government. It hasn't worked.
So now, cornered and humiliated, Trump is threatening to destroy the lives of 90 million people to find anything he can call a win. That's not strength. That's desperation — and it's one of the greatest crimes under international law.
Here's what makes this moment dangerous for everyone: the U.S. and Israel are both nuclear powers. When a nuclear-armed government backs itself into a corner with no exit, the risk of escalation doesn't stop at conventional war. Trump's failure is pushing the entire world toward a spiral that could have nuclear consequences. That's not alarmism. That's the reality of what unchecked U.S. domination looks like when it starts to crack.
Democrats Went on Vacation While Trump Threatened Genocide.
Trump's ultimatum is clear: submit or face the destruction of Iran's civilian infrastructure — power, water, bridges. Legal scholars confirm this constitutes a war crime under international law. The Convention on Genocide prohibits orders with "intent to destroy" — and active duty soldiers have the legal right to disobey them.
And where are the Democrats? On recess. They could have forced a vote on a war powers resolution before going on vacation. They could be building public pressure to recall Congress and withhold military funding. Instead, Democratic senators left classified briefings saying the strategy is "totally incoherent" — and then did nothing. They point to midterms as the solution. But we can't wait six months while Iran burns and California workers bleed at the pump.
Trump pulled the trigger. But both parties built the gun. The same billionaire class that price-gouges renters in Stockton is the one demanding those bombs fall on Tehran.
Our Demands — Stop the War, Fund the People
Join a protest near you today. They can't fight this war without our money and our lives. Take to the streets — demand an immediate ceasefire and a halt to all strikes.
End the U.S.-Israel war on Iran immediately. No more bombs. No occupation. No proxy wars against the Global South. Withdraw U.S. military forces now.
Demand Congress defund this illegal war. No authorization, no blank check. Any California elected official who votes to fund this war must answer to the California working class at the ballot box.
Cut the Pentagon budget and redirect war spending to what working people need: housing, healthcare, education, and guaranteed union jobs at $30/hour. Every dollar that goes to bombs is a dollar taken from schools, clinics, and rent. That's not a budget trade-off — it's a theft from working people.
Repay Iran for the damage done. No country gets impunity for bombing another. The U.S. should compensate Iran for their destroyed infrastructure and lives lost.
Divest California's public pensions — CalPERS and CalSTRS — from weapons manufacturers profiting from this war. Our retirement savings must not finance bombs.
Working People Are Already Organizing To Stop This War
Millions of Americans are already rejecting this war. Students walk out. Dockworkers refuse weapons shipments. Labor councils pass ceasefire resolutions. The Peace and Freedom Party was founded in 1967 by the anti-war and Black liberation movements — the same people power that ended the war in Vietnam.
May Day is coming — May 1st. No school, no work, no shopping. The people showed what a general strike looks like in Minneapolis on January 23rd. That spread nationwide on January 30th. We can build that into a nationwide shutdown on May 1st. That's the power no bomb can stop.
Our Vision: From War Economy to Workers' Economy
California's $4 trillion economy can guarantee every person housing, healthcare, a union job, and a dignified retirement. But only if we stop pouring billions into weapons contractors and endless wars. The billionaire class wages war abroad to distract from its war on the working class at home. We have everything in common with the people of Iran — and nothing in common with the billionaires who profit from their deaths.
Socialism at home and peace abroad. That's the choice.
